IELTS exam is conducted worldwide by Australia, UK and IDP and British council. Academic and general are the two formats in which IELTS test is available. This exam tests the English skills of an individual. In foreign universities it is a paper based test at any level for English aptitude. Academic module is required for admissions to educational institutions whereas general module is for immigration.

The duration of time for IELTS exam is 2hrs and 45 minutes. The reading section consists of 3 sections for which time allotted for each section is 20 minutes. The listening section consists of 4 sections for which time allotted for each section is 30 minutes. Time allotted for speaking section is for about 11-15 minutes. The writing section consists of two sections and the time allotted is 20 minutes for first section and 40 minutes for second section. The IELTS exam is out of 9.0 bands.

In the listening test 40 questions will be asked. In the reading test there will be two modules Academic and General. There will be 3 passages (40 questions) in Academic module and 3 sections (40 questions) in General module. The writing test also consists of Academic and General Modules. There will be 2 tasks (Diagram Prompt/Argument Prompt) in Academic module and 2 tasks (Letter Prompt/Essay Prompt) in General module. The speaking test consists of 3 parts.

Please contact the test centre where you booked your test in case you want to cancel or postpone the test. If you postpone or cancel your application more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an ad administration charge. If you postpone or cancel within 5 weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fee unless you have a medical reason. If you provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative cost.

If you are away on the test day with no prior notice, you will lose your full fee. However, if you are unable to attend due to a serious medical condition and provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative cost.

The Listening, Reading and Writing components of the test are always completed immediately after each other and with no break.

The test centre may offer you a test on the next available test date in case you are delayed by the circumstances beyond your control (e.g. Transport strike).

Only pens, pencils and erasers are allowed into the exam room. You must bring the passport/national identity card you used on the IELTS Application Form to the test.

The Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) is an English Language test. Universities in USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, amongst others, accept PTE Academic. It is designed in such a way so as to find out the accuracy of non-native English speakers to participate in a university-level English language instruction program Universities in USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. It was created by Pearson Language Tests part of the Pearson PLC group and endorsed by GMAC® (Graduate Management Admission Council), owners of GMAT® (Graduate Management Admission Test). It is a computer-based exam. Throughout the test, students will listen to a variety of accents and academic language encountered at higher education institutions in English speaking countries.

Test Modules

Speaking and Writing – These modules find out all communications skills of a student. Total duration of exam: 3 hrs. There is no time limit for introduction part. The total duration of time for Speaking and Writing is for about 77-93 minutes. The duration of time for Reading is for about 32-41 minutes and for Listening is for about 45-57 minutes. Test Scores are available online usually within 5 business days from taking the test. Test taker can report scores to any number of institutions for free. Selected institutions can retrieve scores online usually within 48 hours. The score range is 10 to 90 points.

If you are taking the exam in India, you should carry your original passport with you to the test.PTE test is accepted by many universities all over the world. There is no restriction on the number of attempts. You can take the test as many times you want. But, you can book your next exam date only after you’ve received your score from the previous test. The PTE test is valid up to 2 years from the date of the exam. There are no educational requirements to take the PTE test. The candidates have to be at least 16 years old to take the exam. Candidates under 18 have to submit a consent form from their parents. Cancellation or rescheduling of the exam is also allowed but for an extra charge.

Test of English as a Foreign Language is an Internet Based Test for English aptitude at any level for foreign universities. It assesses the ability of non-English speakers to use and understand English as it is spoken, written and heard in college and universities.

Structure of the TOEFL iBT

The TOEFL ibt test has 4 sections Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. About 36-56 questions will be asked in reading section. The task given will be to read 3 or 4 passages from the academic texts and answer the questions. The duration of time for this section is for about 60-80 minutes. About 34-51 questions will be asked in the Listening section. The task will be to listen to lectures, classroom discussions and conversations, and then answer questions. The duration of time for this section is for about 60-90 minutes. There will be about 6 tasks in the Speaking section. The tasks would be to speak based on reading and listening tasks, express an opinion on a familiar topic. The duration of time for this section is for about 20 minutes. There will be about 2 tasks in the writing section. That is to support an opinion in writing and write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks. The duration of time for this section is for about 50 minutes.

Score Scale:

In the reading section the score range is from 0-30. The score from (22-30) is considered high level, the score from (15-21) is considered average level and the score from (0-14) low level. In the Listening section the score range is from 0-30. The score from (22-30) is considered high level, the score from (15-21) is considered average level and the score from (0-14) low level. In the speaking section the score range is from 0-30. The score from (26-30) is considered good, the score from (18-25) is considered fair, the score from (10-17) is considered weak and the score from (0-9) weak. In the writing section the score range is from 0-30. The score from (24-30) is considered good, the score from (17-23) is considered fair, the score from (1-16) is considered limited. TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years. TOEFL score reports include scores for only the last test taken. However, GRE lets test takers decide which GRE scores from their five-year reportable history to send to institutions. Scores for a test administration must be reported in their entirety.

There is a provision of reporting your GRE test scores to a maximum of four universities of your choice, the cost of which is built into the GRE test fee you pay. To reschedule, test-takers need to pay an additional $50. Re-scheduling can be done up to seven days prior to the test day. GRE is for those seeking graduate school entries in US and other English speaking countries. GRE is a test format that is required by the graduate schools to check the applicant's verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills.

The GRE question types are based upon the following skills:

Verbal Reasoning - This section measures a student's ability to analyze and evaluate written material and to synthesize information obtained from it. It measures the ability to analyze relationships among component parts of sentences and recognize relationships among concepts and words.

Quantitative Reasoning- This section measures a student's problem-solving ability and focuses on basic concepts of algebra, arithmetic, data analysis and geometry.

Analytical Writing - This section measures analytical writing skills and critical thinking. It specifically measure's a student's ability to articulate and support ideas that are complex in nature both clearly and effectively.

The total duration of GRE exam is 3hrs 45 min. There are two sections verbal reasoning. There will be 20 questions in each section. Time allotted is 30 min per section. There are two sections in quantitative reasoning. There will be 20 questions in each section. Time allotted is 35 min per section. Two essays will be given in Analytical Writing Assessment - Issue and Argument. Time allotted is 30 min for each essay. GRE score is out of 340. The GRE is a multiple-choice multi-stage test. It has been designed in a way so as to calculate the student's intellectual and logical abilities. There will be two tasks given in Analytical Writing Assessment, 'analysis of an issue' task and 'analysis of an argument' task. The time allotted is 30 minutes per task. There will be two sections in Verbal Reasoning. 20 questions will be allotted for each section. The time allotted is 30 minutes for each section. There will be two sections in quantitative reasoning. 20 questions will be allotted for each section. The time allotted is 35 minutes for each section. The no. of questions in Experimental/Research section varies. The time allotted in this section also varies. The Analytical Writing section will always precede all other test sections. The Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning and Experimental Section (the latter of which is not scored but which can be either Verbal or Quantitative) may appear in any order. An identified Research Section that is not scored may also be included in the test, but will always appear at the end.

There is a provision of reporting your GMAT test scores to a maximum of five universities of your choice, the cost of which is built into the GMAT test fee you pay. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive standardized test in Mathematics and the English language. It measures the aptitude to succeed academically in graduate business studies. Business schools commonly use the test as one of the many selection criteria for admission into an MBA program.

The GMAT consists of four sections:

1. AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment)

2. Integrated Reasoning

3. Quantitative Reasoning

4. Verbal Reasoning

The Analytical Writing Assessment section consists of 1 question. The question asked is Analysis of an Argument. The time allotted for this section is 30 minutes. The score range is 0-6. The Integrated Reasoning section consists of 12 questions. The questions asked are Table analysis, Graphic Intepretation, Multi Source Reasoning and Two Part Analysis. The time allotted for this section is 30 minutes. The score range is 1-8.The quantitative section consists of 37 questions. The type of question asked is problem solving data sufficiency. The time allotted for this section is 75 minutes. The score range is 0-51. The verbal section consists of 41 questions. The questions asked are critical reasoning reading and comprehension sentence correction. The time allotted for this section is 75 minutes. The score range is 0-51. Students can appear for the GMAT once every calendar month and a maximum of five times in one calendar year with scores being valid for up to five years. The GMAT can be taken in 94 countries across the world. Appointments are available six days a week all year round. A GMAT score is valid for 5 years. While a student can retake the exam to improve upon scores, Business Schools will have access to all your scores registered for the last 5 years. Hence, candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly before sitting for the exam. In a computer-adaptive test (CAT), questions are selected according to the student's level of intelligence. It starts with a question of average difficulty, and the Correctness of the answer sets the difficulty level of the subsequent question.

There are totally 4 sections in SAT exam:

The time allotted for Mathematics section is 80 minutes (55 minutes with calculator and 25 minutes without calculator). Total no. of questions are 58. Concentrated focus will be on Problem-solving and data analysis;"The Heart of Algebra";"Passport to Advanced Math"; Real-world problem solving Accompanied by informational graphics. The time allotted for Critical Reading section is 65 minutes. Total no. of questions asked will be 52. Concentrated Focus will be on 1 Evidence-Based Reading to test understanding of U.S. and World Literature. The time allotted for Writing and Language section is 44 minutes. Total no. of questions asked will be 44. Concentrated Focus will be on "Expression of Ideas" and "Standard English Conventions” through passages relating to Careers, History/Social Studies, Humanities, and Science. The time allotted for the Essay section which is optional is 50 minutes. Total no. of questions asked is 1. Concentrated Focus will be on Reading, analysis, and writing skills; requires students to analyze a Source document and explain how the author builds an argument

Key points to bear in mind when taking the New SAT:

1. There are only 4 answer choices per question in the New SAT test format.

2. Only a portion of questions focus on in-depth analysis of content and evidence

3. As against to the old SAT guidelines, there is no negative marking or wrong-answer penalty.

4. SAT is available in print and digitally

5. Too much time is often taken up answering specific questions, especially, in the Critical Reading section, which results in loss of valuable time to attempt other questions. Also, the critical reading section now does not ask for sentence completions.

SAT is scored on a scale of 200-800 scale for each of Maths, Critical Reading and Writing. SAT exam is conducted 6 times every year (i.e. in Jan, May, June, October, November, and December). The test is generally conducted on the first Saturday of the month (except in the month of January, when it is taken on the last Saturday).

The SAT consists of 2 main sections:

1. A 50-minute essay (optional)

2. One 80-minute Mathematics section

3. One 44 Minute Writing & Language section

4. A 65-minute Critical Reading section , Total test time: 3 hours and 50 minutes.
